UX Book Club
June #BoiseUX Book Club scheduled
The June session of the Boise UX Book Club is coming up soon. Get your copy of the book and get ready!
When:
Friday, June 1st
11:30am – 1:00 pm
Where:
The Hemingway Room at the Reef

Important Note! The Reef only allows six checks. Since we will have more than six people, PLEASE bring cash for your meal to avoid any issues!
Our conversation will focus on effective data visualization! We will be reading Visualize This: The FlowingData Guide to Design, Visualization, and Statistics by Nathan Yau.
At the last meeting, we had quite a few people neglect to read the book (tsk! tsk!). Hopefully this very advance notice will give people time to prepare!
If you haven’t attended the book club before and are wondering if you are the right type of person to attend, here is the boilerplate: ”This discussion is perfect for UX professionals, web designers/developers, content strategists, or anyone interested in discussing user experience concepts and user-centered design practices.”

Boise UX Book Club
We are starting a UX Book Club in Boise!
Selecting a book, establishing the date/time/location for the meetup(s), and getting the word out – all without a support structure in place – could be like trying to herd cats.
So here we go: my best attempt at creating some informal structure and getting the ball rolling.
Are you interested in participating?
Take a look at the three questions below. Share your feedback as a comment to this post. If you would rather shoot me an e-mail, that is fine too – I can add your thoughts to the comments for you.
Question 1: What book should we read?
Here are a few suggestions:
Storytelling for User Experience: Crafting Stories for Better Design
Selling Usability: User Experience Infiltration Tactics
Simple and Usable Web, Mobile, and Interaction Design (Voices That Matter)
Of course, if you don’t like any of my proposals, feel free to propose your own!
Question 2: When should we plan on meeting?
I personally think we should select the book within the next week or so, and plan on meeting in early January 2011. How does that sound?
Question 3: Where should we meet?
Can everyone make a lunchtime get-together or should we try for an early-evening get-together? We could even consider a pre-work breakfast get-together… but that is my least desirable option – unless you would like me to sit comatose in the corner.
Please weigh in as soon as possible about what we should read, when we should read it, and where!
