About

The path to my current role of User Experience Researcher has been filled with twists and turns.

I can easily recall growing up as a child when personal computers and video games first hit the scene. Although waiting for Forbidden Forest to load into a Commodore 64′s memory via cassette drive was not especially entrancing, the other memories I hold from that period of time certainly were. I knew I was meant to work on computers, and probably more specifically, on video games.

My introductory year as a Computer Science major taught me an important lesson: Although technology is important, it is only there to serve the people that use it. Unsurprisingly, by the end of my first year, I had switched my studies to industrial/organizational psychology.

Since that time I have had the opportunity to experience a broad spectrum of jobs in non-profit, state, and corporate arenas. Unfortunately, with each of these jobs, something seemed missing.

It was not until I discovered the field of user experience research and design that I was able to connect the name of a profession to a career I had been searching for; I had finally found a job that focused in on my passion. Not just technology. Not just people. But rather, the intersection of the two.

I now know that my future lies in the profession of user experience research and interaction design. Luckily, my interests in game experience and design easily intersect with my career as a UX/IXD professional.

Thanks again for stopping by and taking the time to learn more about me. Hopefully it was more fun than waiting for a game to load from a cassette drive.
